A corporate team-building day at VR Point: the Dune Estate story

Most corporate team-building days in Dubai end with a polite round of applause and a group photo nobody looks at again. This one did not. Here is exactly how a morning with the team from Dune Estate, a Dubai real estate company, played out at VR Point from start to finish, so you can picture your own.

It started like a real Monday

Their team lead reached out, we talked through the options, and the Squad 20 package fit the group perfectly. We set the date, and on the morning itself the team arrived at 10. A few of them rolled in about twenty minutes late, which surprised no one. It was a Monday, and Monday in Dubai moves a little slower than the rest of the week.

Coffee first

So we started with coffee, and not the vending-machine kind. One guest asked to try our V60 Ethiopian pour-over, loved it, and spent the next few minutes talking his colleagues into ordering the same. Plenty of them did. But the real winner of the morning was our signature VR Point Mojito. It took a little persuading from our team at first, then a couple of people tried it, word travelled fast, and by mid-morning the Mojito was the clear favourite. Every drink was included in the package, with no extras and no surprises on the bill.

Drinks in hand, the team sank into the leather sofas while we played the trailers for all five of our games on the big screen.

Choosing the world

Our worlds come in three flavours: co-op survival against zombies, adventure and puzzle, and head-to-head PvP. A few people pushed hard for the competitive shooter, but the majority wanted to face the zombies together, so we made a quiet note of the PvP fans for later. The team picked Patient Zero, where the mission is to reach a group of trapped scientists and get them out alive.

While one squad played, the rest did not just wait

Twenty people is too many for one round, so we split them into four squads of five and ran a full briefing. The first squad geared up in our tactile sensor suits and headed to the arena on the second floor. This is the part people do not expect. While one squad fought through the bunker upstairs, the rest of the team got comfortable. One group settled in with their drinks and argued about the football. Another took over the PS5 Pro and started simulating the 2026 World Cup final, which got funny fast given how many nationalities were in the room. Two colleagues went to war over a chess board, a few others battled it out in Monopoly, and one very cheerful guy spent his time creeping up on coworkers to pinch them on the leg, laughing the whole time.

The reveal

Then the first squad came down, and their colleagues swarmed them with questions. The players were so wired they could barely string a sentence together. Here is the detail we love: the quietest member of that squad, the one nobody expected, had taken down more zombies than anyone and topped the group. Suddenly the football, the chess and the Monopoly did not matter. Everyone wanted a cold drink and a replay of every single moment, arguing about who shot what, where and when.

Pizza, rotations and the stats they loved

About then the pizzas arrived, and the team worked through them between rounds. The next squad headed up, then the next, and over roughly three hours the whole company had played. When the last squad came down, we put together the part that really lit them up: the stats. Leaderboards by squad, a most-accurate-sniper award, and a “biggest spender” award for the player who burned through every last round of ammo. They photographed the screens, bragged to each other, and compared scores like it was a championship final.

The gift we saved for the end

And those four who voted for PvP at the start, the ones who thought we had forgotten? We had not. We gave them a 2v2 match, ten minutes, just for them. The best moment of the whole day came from there. One of them, with zero VR experience, found a combat drone, launched it, tracked an opponent across the map and took him out with a clean sniper shot. It was genuinely beautiful to watch.

How it ended

That is how the Dune Estate corporate day wrapped up. Everyone left happy, several booked future slots on the spot, and a lot of them said they would come back with friends and family. We loved hosting a team this warm and this alive, and a group that close clearly has someone smart organising the right things for them.

If you want a corporate day your team actually talks about afterwards, this is what it looks like.
